Public health official warns of reporting gaps for suspected drug deaths; seeks JUUL settlement funds for education

Matthew Marmor, Interim Director of Public Health, told the subcommittee that the county may not receive timely law-enforcement reports when drugs are suspected in deaths because toxicology can take time to return results. Dr. Robert Cole noted toxicology reports can take about a month.
Marmor said he is working on using JUUL settlement funds for local prevention work, plans to meet with state legislators about the funds, and intends to share a Roswell Park video about vaping harms with the subcommittee as part of education efforts.
