Council approves park use for Take Back Day and conditionally approves Fiesta de Salud; Summerfest plans discussed

The minutes state: "requested the use of Lion’s park for Take Back Day on 04/18/2026 from 10:00 – 2:00." Council approved the request pending verification of park availability.
Finance Director Janice Flynn presented a Special Event application for the 4th Annual Fiesta de Salud scheduled for Oct. 9, 2026 from 3–6 p.m.; Council approved the application pending proof of insurance and confirmation the park is available. Jill Larsen of Summerfest presented the 2026 festival plan; Public Works Director Mauricio Romero asked organizers to request parade participants refrain from throwing sticky candy onto city streets, and Chief Rodriguez said he has written guidelines for car show participants. Council discussed reinstating a Friday night community dinner; the council must notify Summerfest by the next meeting if they want the dinner included.
