Commission approves $153,000 in SAP roadway projects after state grant and SPLOST match

The board approved the fiscal-year 2025 Safety Action Program (SAP) final expenditures and authorized the chairman to sign supporting documentation. Staff reported Stephens County received $116,500 from the state of Georgia for SAP funding and matched the award with about $37,000 from SPLOST funds for a total project of roughly $153,000.
Staff said funds were used to restripe approximately 14 miles of county roads using thermoplastic centerlines and edge lines, install raised pavement markers, stop lines, and to install thermoplastic rumble strips and signage on several roads (Rock Creek Road, Oak Valley Road, Holly Springs Road were named). A motion to approve the SAP expenditures and authorize the chairman to sign carried by voice vote.
Officials expressed appreciation for the additional funding from the state and noted the county matched the grant and has projects lined up for possible future SAP funding.
