Dave Sweat, representing the City of Minneapolis, cautioned about 'double dipping' since expenses can fall on both county and city taxpayers: 'it costs the city more because the citizens will pay in the county tax and in the city tax.' Commissioner Mortimer noted the Service Corps carnival insurance cost was $19,000 and suggested the city and county consider sharing the cost; the group agreed to reconvene on March 23 for more information and possible options.
Fair Board chair Brian Kindall also presented the board budget and listed upcoming maintenance and capital actions: tree trimming, relocation of the RV dump station, purchase of a John Deere mower, signage, and new portable pens for livestock overflow. Kindall reported typical fair-date insurance runs $400–$500; the Service Corps full-coverage cost is separate and higher, pending KCAMP appraisal and review of alternatives.
