County accepts Cigna renewal with 8.9% increase, expands dental and wellness benefits

County staff presented a Cigna health insurance renewal package showing an estimated 8.9% increase over the current year; the board voted to accept the renewal and include it in the FY26 budget. Staff said the county competitively bid the plan against six vendors before selecting Cigna.
The presenter highlighted several benefit changes to be included in next year’s budget: reduced urgent-care co-pays for staff, new wellness funding and expanded dental coverage "for the first time in county history." Commissioners thanked staff for the competitive process and approved the renewal by motion and voice vote.
