Resident urges more social media outreach for planning and zoning notices

At the public-comment portion of the Stephens County meeting, resident Sherry Jeffers thanked the board and the development authority for community improvements and urged expanded use of social media to publicize planning and zoning notices.
"I was just, appealed to y'all that maybe we use a little bit more social media to, anything that's coming up in the planning," Jeffers said, adding that many residents rely on social platforms rather than printed notices. She also suggested that planning meetings allow attendees to ask informational questions rather than forcing them to register as being "for or against" a variance when they may come only to learn more.
The chair and a commissioner acknowledged the development authority maintains a Facebook presence and encouraged residents to follow it; no formal change to notice procedures was adopted during the meeting.
