Road Superintendent reports bridge repairs complete; FEMA and RAC work continue

Road Superintendent Perry Holmes told the Jury the road crew worked “tirelessly” to reopen several bridges, singling out Harrisonburg Bridge, and that Winn Parish met the 10 state metrics required for bridge maintenance. Holmes said he received a letter from Stephanie Doolittle, head of bridge maintenance in the State of Louisiana, confirming the parish is in full compliance.
Holmes said he will send employees to a bridge class in April, that new grader operators are in training, and that the department still needs to hire a truck driver. On FEMA work he estimated about six roads remain to be completed and said four roads remain on the RAC project. Assistant Road Superintendent Paul Hodnett added that pothole patching has been active in Wheeling, the Lake area and Brewton’s Mill and that the side boom is working every day; he reiterated a need for tractor drivers.
