EMA asks commissioners to adopt Troup County disaster recovery and redevelopment plan

Liz Brock, representing the county Emergency Management Agency, presented the Troup County Disaster Recovery and Redevelopment Plan and asked the board to adopt it as a framework for long-term recovery after a major disaster. Brock said the plan focuses on housing, infrastructure, debris management, economic recovery and long-term redevelopment, and clarifies roles for municipalities, state and federal partners and volunteer organizations.
Brock said the plan was developed collaboratively with municipalities and local partners, aligns with FEMA's National Disaster Recovery Framework and guidance from the Georgia Emergency Management and Homeland Security Agency, and grew out of assistance following federally declared tornado damage in 2023. She noted the plan is distinct from the county’s emergency operations (response) plan and that the county is also developing a debris management plan targeted for presentation this fall.
