Troup County accepts multiple court and public-safety grants totaling roughly $1.1 million

Troup County commissioners voted to accept a package of FY2027 operating grants covering juvenile services, treatment courts and public-safety programs.
County manager staff presented the requests: a Children-in-Need services grant application of $80,000 with no match; a Family Treatment Court operating grant of $212,248 with a $37,456 county match; a Drug Court grant of $347,903 with a $43,748 match; a CACJ mental-health court grant for $215,610 with a $38,049 match; and a CACJ DUI/drug court grant of $159,063 with a $28,070 match. Each item was moved, seconded and approved by the board.
"The amount of that grant is $80,000 and there are no match requirements," the county manager said when introducing the juvenile-court item.
The board also approved smaller competitive applications: a $2,000 USTA Southern parks grant, a $15,000 Firehouse Subs grant, and an Assistance to Firefighters (AFG) grant application of $396,340 that would require a SPLOST 5 match of $36,031.91 if awarded. Commissioners did not request additional public comment on the items and approved the motions by voice vote.
The actions are administrative acceptances of grants and permissions to apply; no new county policy or appropriation beyond the described match commitments was taken at the meeting.
