Hays Public Library will use Ellis County allocation to expand Hoopla checkouts, director says

Brandon Hines, director of Hays Public Library, told the Ellis County Library Board on May 6 that Hays’ board accepted the county allocation and intends to spend the funds on digital resource expansion and outreach. Hines said the library proposed adding two Hoopla checkouts per month and that the allocation will support programming and outreach tied to digital services.
Hines added that he recently met with the State Librarian, who recommended that the Ellis County Library Board contact the State Library about state aid and reporting requirements; he estimated the potential state aid at about $1,000. The Hays board’s acceptance means those county funds will be applied to Hays’ digital offerings rather than returned to the county.
