The Ellis County Library Board on May 6 approved payment of a $1,300 invoice from Jeter Law Firm and reviewed financial and audit options ahead of the June budget process. The board voted to pay the bill after Jennifer Teget presented the invoice; Kylie Honas moved the payment and Becky Rogowski seconded, and the motion passed.
Teget told the board that Adams Brown indicated no full audit was required for 2025 since the board had no receipts or expenditures; for 2026 receipts are expected to remain under the $275,000 threshold, allowing the board to opt for an AUP (mini) audit. She said the board could alternatively participate in the county audit, but county participation could carry shared costs (the county’s estimate is approximately $50,000) that would be apportioned and decided during the June budget process. Teget also reported bonding-insurance conversations: recommended coverage of $80,000 would cost around $560 per year, while coverage up to $400,000 would cost about $1,400 per year; the board has not begun a formal bidding process.
