GIS specialist: imagery flights complete; county expects photos this fall and lidar next year

Neil Martinko, Iron County GIS Specialist, told the Iron County Comprehensive Planning/Land & Zoning Committee that “all photo and lidar flights have been completed,” and staff is performing a quality check on the data.
Martinko said the county expects orthophotos this fall and lidar-derived products next year; he also reported processing 18 fire-number applications so far this year, compared with typical annual averages near 50 and peak years of 72 and 78 in 2021 and 2022. Committee member Karen Lauer raised concerns that some Mercer fire-number signs are outdated and impede emergency responders, and the committee decided to recommend to the towns of Mercer and Carey that older signs be replaced.
