Commissioners approve consent agenda: minutes, claims, contracts and grants
Summary
At the Feb. 27 session the board approved meeting minutes, $4.62 million in claims, procurement and contract renewals including Simplifile e-filing services, a Justice Assistance Grant agreement, an annual fire-inspection contract, and a Summit Food Service amendment.
The board approved multiple consent items by recorded motions and 3-0 votes. Key approvals included:
- Approval of minutes for the March 13, 2026 legislative session. - Approval of claims submitted for March 10-24, 2026 in the amount of $4,622,329.75. - An agreement with Simplifile to enhance the Recorder's e-filing services; County Treasurer Nicole Keesling said more than 60,000 documents were filed in 2025 and over 80% were filed electronically and that recorded documents are retained "by statute" for 500 years. - A joint Justice Assistance Grant agreement with the City of Fort Wayne to reimburse capital equipment needed by the sheriff's department (presented by Chief of Staff Chris Cloud). - A $34,350 annual contract with Advanced System Group for fire-panel inspections (three-year pricing guarantee) presented by Maintenance Director Vance Hernandez. - An amendment to the Summit Food Service contract to allow menu items for employee and staff use only, requested by Cody Fry of Community Corrections.
Each item was moved, seconded and recorded as approved 3-0 in the legislative session minutes.
