Sheriff updates animal-control plan; library branch to close and bids set for road project

Sheriff McAllister told the Winn Parish Police Jury on May 18 that the animal-control kennels are in final stages: a septic system will be installed within about a week, a slab will be poured, and an app is planned to allow online pet adoptions. He thanked the Jury for assistance with the project.
Secretary/Treasurer Karen Tyler announced several administrative items: Mass Casualty Incident training is scheduled for May 21 from 8:00 a.m. to noon at the Louisiana Technical College and is open to the public; the Calvin Branch of the library will close May 21 through Aug. 11 as branch manager Jan Collins resigns and a new manager is trained while cleaning and repairs are made; a bid opening for the Eugene Garrett Road Capital Outlay project is set for May 28 at 10:00 a.m. in the Jury room; and Constable Mitchell Miles has submitted his resignation effective May 31 (the Jury has 20 days to appoint a replacement).
