Police Jury adopts 15 MPH ordinance for Couley Point, removes Ellis Williams Road and agrees to help Calvin patch potholes

The Winn Parish Police Jury on May 18 adopted Ordinance #001 of 2026, lowering the speed limit on Couley Point to 15 miles per hour. The motion, made by Mr. Phillip Evans and seconded by Mr. Kyle Potts, passed with a recorded tally of 5 yeas, 0 nays, 1 absent and 1 abstained.
At the same meeting the Jury voted to remove Ellis Williams Road from the parish road system after the sole property owner requested removal in order to erect a gate. The Jury also adopted Resolution #007 of 2026 to assist the Village of Calvin by patching potholes on 6th Street and Front Ave. All three measures carried with the same recorded vote tally.
