County assessment: about 4,600 veterans 60+ in Napa County; transportation and housing top needs

Deputy Director Aaron Cadore, representing the County Health and Human Services Agency's CSOA unit, reported results from Napa County's Older Adults Assessment at the April 22 Veterans Commission meeting. He said the assessment identified approximately 4,600 veterans aged 60 and older living in Napa County and about 5,600 veterans countywide. Cadore also reported that only about 10% of the people who completed the older-adults assessment self-identified as veterans.
Cadore told commissioners the two primary needs that emerged from the assessment were transportation and housing. He noted the assessment effort was funded with Health and Human Services funds. Commissioners discussed adding outreach and data requests to future agendas to obtain more precise counts from CalVet and the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.
