Council approves change order after deeper-than-expected soils at FlowEQ Basin

Nick said the change order is a not-to-exceed allowance for additional excavation and replacement with structural backfill, and that the team expects the number could decrease once final depths are confirmed. Council members asked how the borings could have missed bedrock; Nick said the original three borings were consistent on paper but onsite conditions differed and that he is working with the geotechnical engineer and contractor to produce a detailed explanation and updated cost information. Council approved the change order to avoid later, costlier failures.
