Emergency Manager Matt Haviland presented a repair receipt to the Cherokee County Board on Sept. 9 for work on the emergency management generator totaling $7,841.73.
Chairman Cory Moates moved that the county pay the amount from Courthouse funds; Commissioner Lorie Johnson seconded and the motion passed unanimously. The minutes record the motion as: "take the payment of $7841.73 out of Courthouse funds." Road and Bridge Supervisor Cody Zook recommended the county test and service the generator annually so it remains ready for use, and Chairman Moates suggested exploring replacing the single unit with multiple smaller generators in the future.
The payment and the maintenance recommendation were recorded for the county's administrative files.
