County staff seek approval to place liens on 33 past-due sewer accounts

Joni Hicks, Road and Bridge Office Manager, asked the Cherokee County Board on Sept. 9 to authorize moving forward with placing liens on 33 properties that owe past-due sewer debts.
Hicks said she records when bills and notices are sent and updated the Board on the status of the county's new billing system. County Counselor Jake Conard asked Hicks to provide deeds for the properties and the amounts owed for each account before the county proceeds with liens.
The minutes record the request and the counselor's follow-up request; they do not record the Board immediately placing the liens that day.
