Road supervisor recommends J & J Drainage bid for culvert purchase; Board hears local road complaints

Road and Bridge Supervisor Cody Zook told the Cherokee County Board on Sept. 9 that he received several quotes for culvert drainage pipe and that he preferred the lower bid from J & J Drainage.
Zook reported quotes including $14,651.52 and $28,500.00 from other vendors and a $12,504.00 quote from J & J Drainage; he said he "would like to move forward with the purchase from J & J Drainage." He also briefed the Board on asphalt work completed on Southwest 70th Street and described additional areas slated for repair.
The Board discussed a separate request from a property owner asking the county to take over Plum Lane, currently a private drive; commissioners said it is not the county's practice to assume private drives and noted developer responsibility for building roads. Commissioner Johnson also relayed a complaint that graders had not been seen recently in a portion of SW Blackjack.
