Public commenters urge caution on Home Rule; congressional office lists funding requests

Resident Eric Brody (self-identified) said he opposed the Home Rule initiative as rushed and costly and urged voters to have more time to consider what a charter commission could produce. "I registered my opposition to this initiative," Brody said, citing concerns about the pace of the process and public trust.
Annette Hudd, representing Congresswoman Bogart’s office, said the congresswoman’s local office recently relocated nearby and is available to help municipalities pursue federal support. Hudd listed funding priorities the office has requested for Douglas County, including a $5,000,000 pipeline project to move up to 1,000 acre-feet of water per year and other infrastructure requests, and encouraged the council to engage with the congressional office on funding opportunities.
