Residents split over Lantana Beach plan: 'less is more' vs. more amenities and restaurants

Patricia, who identified herself as a resident at 514 South Atlantic Drive, urged restraint: "I really think we should focus on just emphasizing the beach doing great landscaping. I don't really care about restaurants." In contrast, Daisy Panay, co‑owner of the Dune Deck Cafe, said families and out‑of‑town visitors need food options and called attention to parking shortages that prompt visitors to circle the area searching for spaces.
Another resident said a nighttime restaurant would be desirable but described an event space as an unnecessary expense if it is used only sporadically. Town staff acknowledged parking challenges and said a parking structure is one option that will be evaluated in the planning process.
