Architect outlines phased approach for Lantana Beach: north‑side work, new restaurant footprint and boardwalk upgrades

Joseph (Joe) Berry, president of CPZ Architects Incorporated, presented a conceptual site plan that splits work into phases to preserve beach operations during construction. "Phase 1, we're looking at doing something on the North Side in that existing pavilion and actually creating a new footprint for the restaurant so that... it would move to the North Side location in phase 1," Berry said, describing a temporary marine safety office on a second floor during initial work.
The first phase would also replace the north‑end boardwalk, add a new restroom facility and include landscaping and parking improvements with drought‑tolerant species. Berry said later phases could renovate or remove the current dune deck to make room for small retail, light concessions or an ice cream vendor and that the permanent marine safety office might be located on a second floor in a later stage.
Consultants listed for the project included Chen Moore and Associates (civil engineering), MUE Engineers (structural) and Terracon (environmental). Berry emphasized that early integration of engineers into conceptual work should limit duplication of costs when the town advances to formal site plans and permitting.
