Lantana council workshop reviews conceptual Lantana Beach master plan, sets next steps

The Lantana Town Council met in workshop on Aug. 11, 2025, to review a conceptual site master plan for Lantana Beach and to hear public comment on design priorities. Mayor opened the meeting, the council approved the workshop agenda by voice vote and the presentation was delivered by Joseph Berry of CPZ Architects.

Joseph (Joe) Berry, president of CPZ Architects Incorporated, described a phased approach intended to keep the beach functional during work and to give the council and public options for what elements to pursue. "Our due diligence phase, we were thinking we need 8 weeks to complete," Berry said, describing the first investigatory tasks the consultant team would perform. The consultant team named in the presentation included Chen Moore and Associates for civil engineering, MUE for structural review and Terracon for environmental work.

Council members asked questions about permitting, construction sequencing and timing; CPZ and the town manager said permitting for piers or docks could extend schedules and that civil and environmental reviews will determine constraints. Several residents addressed the council during the public comment period, offering contrasting views about whether the town should add restaurants and event spaces or prioritize keeping the beach pristine.

The town manager told the council that staff will arrange community charrettes, continue master plan committee review and return with a vetting of feasibility, approvals and cost estimates. No final construction approvals were taken at the workshop; the presentation and the schedule were intended to inform budget discussions and next steps.
