The council formally set the proposed millage rate at 3.75 and scheduled the first public budget hearing for Monday, Sept. 8, 2025 at 5:30 p.m. in the council chambers to satisfy state Truth in Millage (TRIM) notice requirements.
Staff explained that once the proposed millage and hearing date are set, the information will be submitted to the property appraiser's office for TRIM notices to be mailed in August. "In order to comply with the state's truth in millage TRIM requirements, we're required to formally set a proposed millage rate and establish the time, date and location of our 1st public hearing," staff said. The motion to set the millage and hearing carried 5‑0.
Council noted the process had been discussed in previous workshops and that a final adoption is expected in September following the public hearings and required notices.
