Calumet County Board adopts amended Rules of the County Board after four amendment votes

The Calumet County Board adopted Amended Resolution 2026-01, the Rules of the County Board, on April 21, 2026. County Administrator Todd Romenesko reviewed the proposed rules. Supervisor Dietrich moved to adopt the resolution; several supervisors offered amendments during debate. Amendment [C] — which replaced the prior Section 3.a with a new "Consideration of Additional Agenda Items for the Next Board Meeting" provision taken from another section — passed 16–4–1, while amendments [A], [B], and [D] failed. On the final call the adoption recorded 20 ayes, 0 nays, and 1 excused.
The failed amendments included one (A) to allow a board motion if the Chair refused to add an agenda item (vote 5 ayes, 15 nays, 1 excused) and one (D) that would have changed meeting start times seasonally (vote 2 ayes, 18 nays, 1 excused). The adopted rules will govern board meeting procedures going forward.
