The Cass County Commission approved Resolution 26-58 to authorize the Cass County Collector's Office to contract with "Friends in the Business LLC" for delinquent tax-notice posting services for the 2026 annual tax sale.
Chris Mollendorf (addressed in the meeting by the chair) described the vendor's role and the county's objectives: "We wanna make sure the taxpayers have the 14th amendment rights protected to due process." He explained that properties eligible for the sale the weekend of Aug. 6 will receive a sign in the yard; staff will photograph the sign and create a digital file with embedded geodata and date-time stamps, in addition to other notices the county provides. Mollendorf said the vendor will handle properties in Cass County and that he is coordinating similar activity with Jasper County for the Aug. 6-8 weekend.
