Cass County Commission rejects petition to dissolve Mount Pleasant Township Special Road District

Presiding Commissioner Borland said the commission did not believe the petition followed the correct statutes and that he planned to meet with the district's presiding commissioner and schedule a public meeting in the coming months so residents can weigh whether to dissolve or retain the district. "We do not believe that it's the correct statutes," Borland said during discussion.
The 3-0 vote formally ends the current petition effort; Borland said the next step will be a meeting with the Mount Pleasant District board and subsequent public outreach so affected property owners can make a decision. No amendment to the resolution was recorded; the motion carried by voice vote.
