The board appointed a vice chair to serve for the remainder of 2026, approved summer hiring authority for the superintendent so district hiring can proceed during July, and approved the employment of a 0.5 FTE district gifted and talented teacher for 2026–27 as recommended by the hiring committee.
On policy matters, the board approved several policies for second reading (IJNDB and related student computer/internet use rules and staff gifts & solicitations) unanimously and moved JICJ (student use of cell phones/electronic devices) through a first reading, as required by new state legislation, with the chair noting the policy must be in place for the beginning of the school year. The board also discussed—but did not take a formal first reading on—the draft ACDC policy due to notice concerns and the policy committee's recommendation to wait for guidance.
