Commissioners approve $33,000 cap repairs for Seventh Street bridge; Portland to fund anti‑graffiti coating

Highway Superintendent Bob Howell reported that EGIS recommended cap repairs not included in previously submitted grant documentation; because the damage was not included in grant paperwork, the cost is not reimbursable. EGIS estimated the cap repairs would extend service life approximately 40–50 years at a cost of $33,000. Commissioner Duane Monroe moved to approve the repair; Doug Horn seconded and the motion passed unanimously.
Howell also asked to apply an anti‑graffiti coating instead of the standard deck coating, at an additional cost of $1,500. Portland City agreed to pay the extra cost; the commissioners approved the coating by unanimous vote.
