Highway Superintendent Bob Howell told commissioners the department continues chip-and-seal work with roughly 16.5 miles left for single-lane passes and has ordered dual-facing cameras for county vehicles. He reported Bridge 139 (Seventh St., Portland) has more cap erosion than anticipated; a repair quote of $33,000 would push the schedule back about two weeks, and full replacement of the caps could extend the project an estimated three to five weeks and might require an additional appropriation.
Howell also said the culvert for Bridge 113 (600 W and SR 26) should be delivered by Civil Con this week and Link Dozing is scheduled for an installation in September; he provided a map for aerial cable and phone-line coordination. Commissioners approved putting paving for 400 S (Highway 67 to State Road 1) out to bid. Road foreman Spencer Patterson said detour signs are in place at 650 N and 250 W, and the board discussed SR 67 detour signage with counsel about engaging INDOT at a higher level.
