Commissioners approve letter of intent to seek state match for opioid settlement funds for recovery residence

Kimbra Reynolds of the Opioid Settlement Taskforce asked the commissioners to sign a letter of intent to seek a one-to-one match of county-held opioid settlement dollars against state funds for a recovery residence. Reynolds told the board, “There is currently a one-to-one match opportunity of county held opioid settlement monies against state dollars up to $500,000,” and said the county would apply for the match as a capital expense. Commissioner Duane Monroe, who also sits on the taskforce, noted it would be a good opportunity to receive additional funding.
Commissioner Doug Horn moved to approve and sign the letter of intent; Duane Monroe seconded the motion and it passed by unanimous vote. No formal commitment of county matching funds was recorded in the meeting minutes beyond the board’s approval to pursue the match through the state process.
