Food Bank distribution disrupted by construction; county schedules work session and tables lease

Food Bank spokesperson Kris Beal told the court that recent construction tied to a Health Department addition reduced parking at the L Building and forced the Food Bank to adopt a drive-through distribution model. Beal said the Food Bank currently distributes food one day a month for four hours while other offices are inconvenienced. Volunteer Eric Bush provided usage statistics the court recorded: the Food Bank serves about 180–200 families per month (approximately 450–500 clients), distributes over 50,000–60,000 pounds of food annually and logs roughly 2,500 volunteer hours each year.
Commissioner Rowell moved to table the Food Bank lease for the Grand County Food Bank until the court could draft a Memorandum of Understanding delineating responsibilities; Judge Hamsher seconded. The motion carried with the vote recorded as Ayes: 2 / Absent: Wilson. The court scheduled a work session on June 17 at 1:15 p.m. to further address parking, dumpster use, bathroom cleaning responsibilities and scheduling so that both the Food Bank and L Building offices can function.
