Van Buren County authorizes SAFE Coalition to administer opioid settlement-funded projects

On Sept. 8, 2025, the Van Buren County Board of Supervisors authorized the chairman to sign a 2nd Amended Memorandum of Understanding that expands the Van Buren County SAFE Coalition's administrative duties to include projects funded by a broad set of opioid settlement sources. Marissa Greenfield and Kris Rankin represented the SAFE Coalition at the meeting and requested inclusion of the Secondary Manufacturers and other settlement sources in the Coalition's administrative scope.
The approved amendment explicitly adds administration of projects using funds received from Distributor, Janssen, National Opioid Abatement Trust II, Allergan, Teva Global, Walmart, CVS, Walgreens, Endo Public Opioid Trust, McKinsey, and the eight secondary manufacturers (Alvogen, Amneal, Apotex, Hikma, Indivior, Mylan, Sun, Zydus). The motion to authorize the chairman to sign the 2nd Amended MOU passed on a motion by House, seconded by Meek, with Ayes: 3.
