The Van Buren County Board of Supervisors voted unanimously on Sept. 8, 2025, to authorize the county to enter participation agreements with eight secondary opioid manufacturers and to deposit any local-government abatement funds into a designated LG Abatement Fund. County Auditor Lisa Plecker notified the Board that she had received confirmation that negotiated settlements had been reached with Alvogen, Amneal, Apotex, Hikma, Indivior, Mylan, Sun and Zydus.
The resolution and the county's previously executed Allocation Memorandum of Understanding require that 100% of both the State and local abatement shares be used exclusively for opioid-related expenditures and that at least 75% of those funds be directed to "Core Strategies" listed in the Allocation MOU. The Board's resolution authorizes the auditor to execute the Secondary Manufacturers' Combined Subdivision Participation and Release Form and to deposit any LG Abatement Share into a separately designated LG Abatement Fund, which may not be commingled with other county funds. The roll call on the resolution was recorded as Meek - Aye, Waugh - Aye, House - Aye.
