County engineer reports overweight-permit exceptions filed, grant application and equipment updates

County Engineer Ryne Thornburg briefed the board on multiple secondary-roads matters. He said the state's Annual All Systems Overweight Permit became active July 1, 2025, and that he filed requests for exceptions on three county roadways: Route V64 (from Route J40 to Eagle Drive on the south side of Leando), Bridge Street in Selma, and Hawk Drive south out of Farmington.
Thornburg also updated supervisors on the county's application for the Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) grant, reported that the motorgrader for the Stockport district is back in operation following a rebuild, and noted that Grout Scouts is working on Route W46. He said regrades of 105th Road and 110th Road (west of Birmingham) are delayed because of state work on Highway 16, and that plans for bridge pile replacement on weight-restricted bridges will be sent out for contractor quotes. The minutes record these operational updates but do not include project schedules or bid amounts.
