Board reads first amendment to Van Buren County Fly Rock Ordinance; Section 9 to be rewritten

Discussion of proposed changes to Van Buren County Ordinance No. 2023-2 (the Fly Rock Ordinance) resumed on July 14. County Engineer Ryne Thornburg identified two issues with the version the board had previously voted to move forward; after discussion the board voted to retain Section 6 as previously agreed and to rewrite Section 9. The motion to leave Section 6 and rewrite Section 9 passed by a 2–1 vote (Ayes: Meek, House; Nay: Waugh).
Chairman Mark Meek then read the 1st reading of Ordinance No. 2023-2, Amendment #1 in its entirety. With no public comments, the board moved to acknowledge and approve the first reading (motion by Meek, seconded by Waugh); the minutes record the vote as Ayes: 3.
