County lists dock, HVAC and path projects and signals plan to raise BPOL cap

Gentry walked the Board through a list of county capital projects in the proposed FY 2026–2027 budget, including sheriff’s office vehicle replacement, technology infrastructure upgrades, county financial software, election equipment, RCE repair and renovation, a Deltaville multipurpose path, courthouse HVAC system work, facilities upgrades, parking lot resurfacing, and dock repairs. He said the capital line totals $2,753,927 for county and school projects.
He also reminded the Board of a previously stated intention to raise the cap on BPOL taxes from $7,500 to $8,500 through a future ordinance amendment. The comment framed the county’s approach to balancing investment in infrastructure while deferring broad property tax increases at this time.
