County budget includes capital improvements; election equipment confirmed included

County Administrator Kevin E. Gentry presented the FY 2026–2027 budget by department and identified capital improvement items for both the county and schools. When Chairman Don R. Harris asked whether the proposed budget included new election equipment, Mr. Gentry replied that it is "covered under capital improvements." The budget materials presented to the board therefore include funding for election equipment as a capital item.

Supervisors also discussed airport-related considerations. Supervisor Reginald A. Williams, Sr. questioned the merit of changing personal property tax rates for airplanes "if there is no evidence that there will be more airplanes stored in the county with the new hangars being built at the airport," raising doubt about whether a tax-rate change would be justified by increased aircraft storage.
