County budget reduces debt service, funds capital projects and modest pay raises; judicial costs top $1 million

Kevin E. He also highlighted cost pressures including rising solid-waste disposal, property expenses and increased funded employee health insurance.
On compensation, Gentry reported that the school division had internally proposed a 4.3% increase for school staff and a 5.3% increase for instructional staff, while county employees would receive a 2% cost-of-living adjustment under the proposal. He also noted specific cost changes such as a projected $74,000 increase tied to Middlesex Rescue Squad paid staff and an approximately $99,000 increase in funded employee health insurance.
