Middlesex County adopts FY 2026–2027 county and school budgets, keeps tax rates

The motion passed on a roll call vote: Supervisor William A. Harris—Aye; Supervisor Randy Crittenden—Aye; Supervisor Wayne H. Jessie, Sr.—Aye; Supervisor Reginald A. Williams, Sr.—Aye; and Chairman Don R. Harris—Aye.
The board's adoption followed questions about capital improvements, departmental increases, and how school-state funds are handled. Assistant County Administrator Ann Marie Ricardi clarified that state funds are transferred to the schools "as it is used, so they will never maintain that surplus in their accounts." The unanimous vote concluded the formal budget action; the board then approved a motion to adjourn, also on unanimous roll call.
