County Administrator Kevin E. Gentry presented the Middlesex County proposed FY 2026–2027 budget at a public hearing May 21, 2026, saying the plan focuses on "fiscal stewardship, transparency, and sustainability" while maintaining current tax rates. He told the Board the proposal supports core county services including public safety, education, infrastructure and community services and is intended to position the county to address future challenges.
Gentry outlined the broad fiscal picture: an aggressive capital-improvements line, modest employee compensation increases, and targeted revenue assumptions. "This proposed budget holds the line on expenses and taxes, maintaining rates until the County reassessment is completed, while pulling in $264,000 from fund balance to balance the budget," he said. The Board scheduled final budget deliberation and adoption for May 28, 2026.
