Commissioners approve SPLOST intergovernmental agreement with Tacoma, Martin and Avalon

County staff presented a resolution and intergovernmental agreement that would govern the use and distribution of proceeds from the 2025 SPLOST for capital outlay. The staff presenter said the cities of Tacoma, Martin and Avalon had already approved the agreement at their recent meetings and asked the board to approve the county's execution so the county can issue a call for the November election.
"The agreement once signed will detail how proceeds from splice will be allocated," staff said, summarizing the purpose of the IGA. Commissioners thanked the cities for working cooperatively and approved the motion by voice vote; the chair announced the motion carried.
The resolution will be finalized and a formal call for the election is expected to be issued at a subsequent meeting. Staff said the IGA, once signed, will specify allocations and obligations for the participating jurisdictions.
