Commission approves OHV grant contract to buy grooming equipment for popular county roads

Taylor Glover explained the county worked with the ATV Club, Commissioner Kubeja, and local tour companies to identify heavily used Class B roads that serve popular sites and suffer recurring damage. To address maintenance needs, the county applied for an Off-Highway Vehicle Recreation (OHVR) grant through the State of Utah Division of Outdoor Recreation to acquire equipment for more consistent road grooming.
Glover said the grant awards up to $99,029.44 and requires a 32% match, which the county plans to cover through a mix of in-kind labor and cash. “They put in for a grant through the OHV program to get a piece of equipment to be able to groom these roads more consistently,” Glover said. Commissioner Celeste Meyeres moved to approve the State contract; the motion carried unanimously.
