Kane County approves budget adjustments to add unexpected tourism and grant receipts

Kane County commissioners voted May 26 to adopt Resolution No. R2026-11, opening the 2026 county budget to record several unanticipated receipts and to authorize spending. Clerk/Auditor Chameill Lamb detailed the items requiring the change, including "a $52,400 grant for a tourism business development workshop, a $100,000 sponsorship for the PRCA rodeo from the Catori Canyon, $25,000 in carried-over 2025 grant funding, and an OHVR grant totaling $31,500 with a $10,500 match from the tourism fund balance."
Commissioner Patty Kubeja moved to approve the resolution; the motion carried with Chair Gwen Brown, Commissioner Kubeja and Commissioner Celeste Meyeres voting aye. The resolution authorizes accounting adjustments to reflect the grants and sponsorships in the 2026 fiscal year budget. No members of the public spoke during the budget public hearing.
