Franklin County adopts FY2027 budget and fixes tax levy; commissioners set rates for July 1, 2026 year

Franklin County commissioners approved the county's fiscal-year 2026-27 appropriation resolution and fixed the property-tax rates for the coming year during their June 22 meeting.

By roll-call vote the commission adopted the budget and related appropriation resolution; the minutes record the measure as adopted (petition and roll-call recorded in the minutes). The board then fixed the tax levy for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2026. The levy the commission set is $1.9953 per $100 of assessed value outside cities; the rate is $1.9768 in most municipalities and $1.7185 inside Winchester, Tullahoma and Sewanee, as recorded in the minutes.

The board also approved detailed fund budgets and related interfund transfers. The meeting packet and the adopted appropriation resolution include the fund-by-fund totals and supporting schedules for General, Highway, Debt Service and school funds. The appropriation resolution (Resolution 61-0626) and the tax-levy resolution were both entered into the minutes and recorded as adopted on June 22, 2026.

County officials said the adopted documents set fund-level appropriations and captured prior-year adjustments and state-required transfers. The minutes show the appropriation vote and the levy action were taken by roll-call as part of the regularly scheduled June meeting; the budget documents were filed with the clerk and are available in the county budget packet.
