Board probes concession-account labeling as $16,000 earmarked for transition program

The superintendent explained the account history: in prior years transition students ran concessions, but the program has shifted to other enterprises (coffee cart, recycling and balloon club). He said the $16,000 balance is earmarked for the transition program and does not go to athletics. "That $16,000... with the exception of there was a couple times where we split YTP and sports, that is earmarked directly for transition students in the special education program," he said. Board members asked to remap account labels so community members and coaches know which funds are which and discussed assigning specific games to teams or boosters to ensure fundraising tracks back to the intended activity or club.
Directors also discussed recycling fundraising via BottleDrop and suggested better coordination between boosters and the transition recycling coordinator. Administration agreed to relabel accounts, to develop a plan to assign concession nights to teams or boosters, and to return with accounting clarifications to avoid future confusion.
