The Vernonia School District 47J Board voted to enter into a contract with GLS to conduct the district's search for a new superintendent following a presentation by GLS consultants. A board member moved to "enter into a contract with GLS for the purposes of conducting a search for a new superintendent," the chair called the vote and the motion carried by voice vote.
The decision followed a detailed GLS presentation on recruitment methods, finalist vetting and interview-day formats. Board members and GLS agreed to schedule an initial board planning meeting in mid-March to finalize the job posting, timeline and stakeholder outreach. The chair said the signed contract should be in place within two weeks and GLS indicated it would post a notice of vacancy immediately.
"I move to enter into a contract with GLS for the purposes of conducting a search for a new superintendent," said the board member who made the motion (Speaker 2). After the vote, the chair welcomed the GLS team and said staff would coordinate the first planning meeting.
