The Vernonia School District 47J Board of Directors voted unanimously March 12 to approve a package of policy updates that had been presented for second reading.
Joanie Jones moved to approve the policies listed under item 7.2; Alicia Mahoney seconded the motion and the measure passed with all members in attendance voting in favor. The set included updates to BBBB (Board Member Oath of Office), BH/BHA (Orientation of New Board Members), CGB (Evaluation of the Superintendent), CHCA (Handbooks), CI (Temporary Administrative Arrangements), DBD (Budget Priorities), DD (Grant Funding Proposals and Applications), DL (Payroll), FFA (Memorials), GB (General Personnel Policies), GBG (Staff Participation in Political Activities), IFD (Course Approval), IGBHC-AR and IGBHC (Alternative Education), JFCA (Student Dress and Grooming), KBCA (News Release), and KK (Visitors to District Facilities).
Board Chair Greg Kintz said the items had been reviewed in committee and brought forward for the board's consideration. The board approved the policies on a motion by Jones and second by Mahoney. No member requested additional amendments during the meeting. The policy package will be implemented according to the timelines in each policy document.
