Public comment opened with several speakers offering condolences after the sudden passing of longtime local meeting attendee George Gwynn. Steve Worley told the board, “The city of Suisun was rocked this weekend with the sudden passing of George Gwynn,” and board members spoke in remembrance of his regular attendance and civic engagement.
The board also used the consent calendar to acknowledge retirements and long service. Supervisor (district) recognized Kelly Scarborough of the Solano County Sheriff’s Office for more than 24 years of service and the retirement of Jeanette Garcia from the public defender’s office (noting Garcia’s service since 1998). The consent calendar was approved by vote of 5‑0.
Board members also discussed procedural handling of the Garcia retirement item — moving a brief public recognition from consent to a separate acknowledgement so Garcia could be invited forward for remarks and photos. The meeting proceeded with a group photo and additional thanks to departing staff.
